Hello and welcome to BBC Xtra English!

Being forced to leave your country because of wars or natural disasters is a very sad thing that many people around the world have had to do.

People who flee their countries to live somewhere else are called refugees and they are of all ages.

Syria is one country that has hosted many refugees from Iraq, who fled during the war.

Many of these young refugees suffer from trauma and a project offered by the United Nations Children's agency UNICEF aims to try and help them deal with their terrible experiences and develop their lives.

The project lets them focus on their own hobbies and skills such as music and art, giving them space to explore and improve their own skills.

Benedict Gilet Bourgeon, the project manager told the BBC that this project is about trying to improve young people's professional and individual skills.

He wants to give them an opportunity to prepare for a better future when they leave Syria.

Some will return back to Iraq and others will be resettled in other countries.

It is hoped that 400 young Iraqis will be trained by the end of this year.
