At the age of 26, she has a degree in the fine art from the Nova Scotia school of Art and design in Halifax. In addition to painting her bold, colourful oils, Tagaq is a contemporary throat-singer who blends traditional throat-singing with modern pop and folk music. She toured with the Icelandic artist Bjork in 2001, and appeared in the CBC's True North concert at Fort Smith, NWT in June, 2002.
