The princess bride Broadcast Date: Nov. 13, 1947 Postwar rationing is still a fact of life in 1947 Britain, but a royal wedding is no place for austerity. Princess Elizabeth is about to marry, and Britons want a bit of pageantry with the event. So, for the first time since the war, members of the royal household cavalry will wear their dress uniforms instead of drab khaki. Details of the bridal gown, however, are supposed to remain a strict secret until after the wedding, reports the CBC's Matthew Halton.
