The Honourable Jay D. Hill
Leader of the Government in the House of Commons

Jay Hill was first elected to the House of Commons in 1993 and re-elected in 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2008. Mr. Hill was appointed Chief Government Whip in February 2006, Secretary of State in January 2007 and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons on October 30, 2008.
Mr. Hill was a member of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs. He has been Vice-Chair of the standing committees on National Defence and Veterans Affairs, on Transport and Government Operations, and on Agriculture and Agri-Food.
Prior to entering public life, Mr. Hill worked in forestry and in the oil and gas industry before joining his brother in taking over the family farm.
During these years, Mr. Hill served as President of the BC Grain Producers Association, Director with the BC Federation of Agriculture, Director of Soil Conservation Canada, and Chair of the BC Provincial Seed Fair. He was also active in the local sports community, coaching junior curlers and minor hockey.
Mr. Hill resides in Fort St. John, B.C. with his wife Leah. He has three children.
