    The Canadian Tulip Festival Liberation The 2010 Special 65th anniversary Liberation edition of the Canadian Tulip Festival is a proud commemorative celebration of the role of Canadian troops in the liberation of the Netherlands. The Festival also celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Navy! Party in the street, at the Cabaret, or in the International Beer Garden It all begins May 7th with a re-creation of the street party that broke out spontaneously at the foot of Parliament Hill along Sparks Street that same day in 1945. Starting May 14, step back in time at Cabaret Libre in the exotic Euro Mirror Tent from Belgium featuring jazz and swing from the 1940s.     The second edition of the Tree Origami Crane Open-Mic Poetry Competition has been launched! So, there’ll be an unrestricted Open-Mic at every Tree session between now and the end of August. Come read to us! One prize for best poem. Another for best performance! Nobody loses. Two Prizes! Best Poem and Best Performance! You are a poet. You hate other peoples’ rules. So do we. However, these are ours and we gotta have ‘em.... RULES: 1. All entries must have been read at a Tree Open-Mic session between 27 April and 24 August 2010, inclusive, and must have been video recorded and posted to Tree’s YouTube account. 2. Printed entries can be no more than one page in length, at no less than 12-point type. An entry may cover, at peril of annoying whoever does the judgin’, both sides of an 8.5” X 11” sheet of paper. 3. Readers can submit multiple entries and must submit at least one self-photograph suitable for publication. (Photographs can be submitted electronically in any format.)
