سوابق

ليس فقط احتيالا ولكنها الجريمة،
لم يقبض عليه على الإطلاق
حياة الإنسان تشبه حياة الشرنقة
(الطور الثالث لحياة الفراشة)
عاجلآ سيتم القبض عليه
عش الزنبور،
ورقة رمادية مهملة أطول من المألوف،
على ومضات النار
بعد اللهيب الذي يشبه الصمت،
بقع تأخذ شكلا حلزونيأ،
في الغد سيقال لنا إن رذاذ الأمطار
سوف يأتي من جهة غير مألوفة
هي الجهة الجنوبية الشرقية.


الرؤية الليلية

الهرمونيكا تدفأ من التنفس
تستبدل بعواء قطيع من الذئاب بالقرب من الأقاليم اللامحددة
تجاهل الحدود
ظلك
بالكاد يمكن إدراك الحرائر عبر الصخور
كالظلام الدامس
بالفعل ولا حتى في ظل اللاقمر.


أطباق وإشارات

أقداح الشاي ضد
صحون الخزف
الرنين
مقاومة المخاطر
في وقت متأخر من الحياة
فرويد أكد غيابيا غريزة الموت
التمارين العقلية
لنبقى- لنستمر - لنتحرك
قطرات المطر المخملية
أصوات المظلات.


الخفايا

حملي الوديع حمل عيون فاقدة الحس
تحتاج أنت لدم أكثر حرارة
أكثر برودة من الدقة والإتقان
اختف يا بهيمتي المسكينة
اذهب لمّعْ أنية المائدة الفضية أو السيارة من الأصباغ
لكن من الأفضل:
أن تقصد بيت لحم
أولَدْ
هذه المرة
حاول أن تتعلم شَيئا ما.

Not just the crook but the crime, never apprehended
in human equivalent chrysalis years, sooner charges laid
a wasp’s nest, grey paper long abandoned, on embers flashes
after the flames, a silence as empty, flecks spiral up
tomorrow, we’re told, a slight drizzling rain will ride in on an unusual south-easter.


Night Vision

Harmonica warm from breath
Replaced in pack
Wolves near uncertain
Provinces howl
Ignore borders
Your shadow
Barely perceptive
Silks across rock
How total darkness
Is really neither
Ever under moonless.


Dishes and Signals

Teacups against
Porcelain plates
ting
Resist the tipping point
Late in life
Freud posited a death instinct
Mental exercises in absentia
We keep /to keep/ moving
Silk raindrops
Sound umbrellas.


Occultations


My numb-eyed lamb
You need much hotter blood
Colder precision
Hide, poor beast
Go polish silverware, or automotive chrome
Better yet:
Get to Bethlehem
Be born
This time
Try to learn something.

Roland Prevost : (freehand firebrand brigand) lives and works in Ottawa. His first chapbook, ‘Metafizz’ (Bywords 2007), was launched at the Ottawa International Writer’s Festival last fall. He was the recipient of the John Newlove Poetry Award for 2006 (judge: Erin Mouré). His poetry’s also published in Ottawater 3.0 & 5.0, the Variations Art Zine, the Bywords Quarterly Journal, and the Peter F. Yacht Club, as well as in Whack of Clouds, by Angel House Press. He is presently the managing editor for 17 seconds, an online journal of poetry & poetics. He’s kept an allsorts lifelong journal, and loves to observe the night sky through his various telescopes.
